BioCapt. Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds - Firefly
Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds is the captain of a ship called Serenity. He opposes the Alliance, who operates under the belief that they can control and manipulate humankind. His opposition to the unification of the planets came to a head with the battle of Serenity in which he and his first mate Zoe fought and lost. He still maintains that he was not on the wrong side of the war though.
Mal was raised by his mother on their ranch, located on the planet Shadow. The ranch had 40 hands so it was fairly large. His home was destroyed (possibly by Alliance) in a part of the war. He volunteered for the Browncoats and was soon promoted to Sergeant. Now he travels aboard Serenity looking for small jobs here and there. He just wants enough money to keep out from under Alliance rule, Serenity afloat, and food in his crews' mouths.
Mal doesn't trust anyone but his crew and sometimes not even them. However, if asked to fight for one of them or if one is in danger, he would put their lives before his own. He has a white knight complex that grows everyday and is extremely protective of his crew members.
He is pure emotion. Everything he does is emotion driven even though you may not always see it on the exterior. He likes his solitude but at the same time needs his crew around him. Although many put him on a pedestal, to himself he is just a man trying to get by.
